German Translations in the Wild (4) Frankfurt Book Fair Edition

I'll do a recap of days 2-5 of the Frankfurt Book Fair tomorrow when my book stack is complete - so look for that. I made out like a bandit, that's for sure.

Today I finally remembered to bring my camera, so I braved the large German crowd in hall 3.0 to get you the following pictures.

Lightbox with THE HUNGER GAMES (German title: TRIBUTES FROM PANEM: DEADLY GAMES) because I love this cover and want to show it every week.

Bernard Beckett's GENESIS (same title in German)

Very shiny copies of Sarah Rees Brennen's THE DEMON'S LEXICON (German title: THE DEMON'S CIRCLE).

Patrick Ness' CHAOS WALKING: THE KNIFE OF NEVER LETTING GO and THE ASK AND THE ANSWER. (German titles: NEW WORLD: THE ESCAPE and THE DARK PARADISE)

Sure seems like you need to have a fantasy/paranormal or dystopia to make it in Germany doesn't it?!

  1. I cannot get over how gorgeous that HUNGER GAMES cover is. I find the DEMON'S LEXICON (DEMON'S CIRCLE) odd though. Something about that silhouette...

  4. I think the German cover of Hunger games is WAAAAAAY better than the one I've seen. In fact, the first thing I thought when I saw the US cover was "ew" If I hadn't read all of the good reviews....I probably wouldn't of picked it up!

  5. That is a gorgeous cover for Hunger Games! The UK cover stinks...I have US copies because I hate them so much! HA ha! I can't wait to hear about your time! I'm jealous!

  6. The Hunger Games cover is very cool! I like the US one but the German one is awesome.

THE DEMON'S LEXICON cover: WOW! So much better than the US one! :)

  7. Beautiful covers..wow! I'm even more excited now that my book is being translated into German. Must say I think the Demon's Circle is a better name than the Demon's Lexicon - I spent the whole book wondering where the Lexicon would come into it (until I was distracted by the totally fabuklous ending!)

I have to agree that The Hunger Games cover is really gorgeous, it reminds me a little of Westerfeld's Uglies.

  9. What a great post - and holy wow, how I love the Hunger Games German cover. I also love my own shiny, shiny German cover, and will admit I have been known to check my lipstick in it.

  11. I love seeing these other covers. Do other European countries have their own too?

Australia just gets the UK ones. You know, cos we're EXACTLY the same as the Motherland :D

Rhi - Oh yes! Most countries do their own. I remember seeing a gallery of different Hunger Games covers. Google it!
