Library Thing Tuesday (47) + Picture of Emmy

This week's question from Wendi: What is your least-favorite book(s)? Is your least-favorite book listed in your LT library? If it is listed, do you have anything special in the tags or comments section? How have others rated your least-favorite book?

There are two books which have earned only 1 star from me on LT, Naked Lunch by William S Burroughs and The Rules of Attraction by Bret Easton Ellis. Both have an average rating of 3.6 stars. Amazingly, despite my intense dislike of both, I finished these. I know a lot of people think they are genius, but they just weren't for me. I'm not a big fan of novels that are written to mirror the experience of being on drugs (Naked Lunch) or ones which are only about sex and partying (Rules).

On Friday I linked to a post with a bunch of cats getting baths, so today, I present you with Emmy's zen reaction to being bathed:

  2. It never ceases to amaze me that they look like completely different critters when wet :P

  3. I want to give that cat a hug. Except I'm not sure she'd like it as much as I would.

Also: my book along those lines (widely praised as funny and brilliant, I couldn't get through it) was that book How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. Fully awesome title, funny premise, but I loathed the author/protagonist (it's a memoir) so much that it was all lost on me.

  5. I totally agree with Serena! still a cutie pie

  6. I don't think I'd like either of those books. Thanks for the warning - I'll stay away.

Emmy is not nearly as cute when wet, but I feel sorry for her because she looks so miserable!

  7. Emmy reminds me of my dog whenever he's washed. She's still cute though. I wonder if she's cold.

  8. Elizabeth - I've read How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. I kind of liked it, but the MC/author was quite an a$$!

We don't bathe Emmy that often. She doesn't like it, but she puts up with it. And she's happy afterwards because she's especially fluffy and pretty and she is actually quite vain...haha!

  9. Oh no, poor Emmy. She looks mad. lol. Too cute. Buddy just trembles and tries to climb out of the tub. It's a battle. He doesn't look as funny now when he's wet, but he looked hilarious as a baby.

  10. Oh, poor Emmy - everyone's getting a chuckle at her expense today.

  11. What a cute picture! Back when I had cats, they never behaved so nicely for baths. I ended up with scratched up arms every time!

  12. Is your cat a ragdoll? We had a couple of ragdolls, and I loved their mild manner. Too cute! :)

  13. It always amazes me how most animals look so tiny when they are wet.

  14. Emmy's a Birman, not a Ragdoll. They are very similar breeds though. And Daniel did get scratched a little, but not much.

  15. Ick. I wouldn't have read either.

You're brave. Our Patches does not take kindly to being bathed. I won't do it. That's his job. :-)

  16. Awww!

A year or two ago I got Naked Lunch for like a quarter at a library sale, I decided to get rid of it though before reading it, so I'm glad to hear this. I've seen the Rules of Attraction and thought it was rather disturbing, I do like the soundtrack though!

  17. Awww... Poor kitty indeed! I've never tried to bathe a cat--but the cat I have now is strange in her hygiene habits in that she seldom washes her face, and NEVER seems to get the gunk out of her eyes. I don't remember my mother-in-law ever mentioning having to do that for her... and if I asked her now, she'd probably have no idea what I'm talking about.

  18. Aw! She looks so much smaller wet! Her fur really puffs her out. lol

  19. you put those kitty pics up just to get lots of comments, don't you? :-) obviously it works! she looks so pathetic, poor little wet kitty! :-)

  21. Poor, poor Emmy....I can't wait until the first time my puppy has to have a bath...LOL!

  22. There's nothing quite so pathetic as a wet cat, is there?

  23. That picture is creepy...lol

  24. Oh, the indignity of it all! I imagine that was one angry kitty.

I've never even attempted Naked Lunch. Nobody could make me read that one!

  25. Sorry you didn't like Rules of Attraction--I liked it a lot...but I def. have to be in the mood for Bret Easton Ellis.

    Awww. Kitty!

  26. Aww, the poor thing. I have a feeling my kitty wouldn't be so zen. :)

  27. She is so sweet and cute!

I don't like books from a drug induced POV either.

  28. Awww....poor Emmy.

I've never read either of those books.

  29. poor Emmy! We've never given our cats baths. They both HATE water!

  30. Oh, my gosh, poor kitty. Lol, that made me laugh so hard.

  31. Oh poor Emmy - she looks like she's just saying okay get it over with...

    ReplyDelete
  32. I just saw this post and had to comment - I LOVE your cat!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Lol, at she still looks like a cat! Mine is black so when she gets a bath she looks like a drowned rat!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wow - little Emmy!! She is quite a petite little thing under all that fur.

I purposely try to shy away from the books that really tend to center around drugs and addictions. Sometimes too much reality really isn't any fun to read.

Thanks for stopping by and participating in Thingers last week! I've got the post up for this week, have you seen the new customizable widgets on LT? ~ Wendi
