Library Thing Tuesday (20) + Pic of Emmy

Today's Question: Favorite Authors. Who do you have named in your LT account as favorite authors? Why did you choose them? How many people share your choices? Can you share a picture of one of them?

My Answer: The following are listed as my favorite authors on Library Thing:

If an author is on this list it means I have read at least 3 of their books, enjoyed them and would be interested in reading more books by this author. There are many other authors I like a lot but have only read two (or one) of their books so far and I sort of made 3 my rule.

I share at most 3 of the 10 with other members. I am the only one to have Melissa Walker as a favorite so here's her awesome picture.

We enjoyed our trip to Goerlitz (very beautiful old town on the border with Poland), Dresden and Erfurt (where we had a tour of the largest freestanding bell in the world - so big that all 8 people on our tour could fit under it).

Emmy quickly made herself at home at the catsitter. My friend Charlotte T. sent me a text picture message with the following picture, saying she'd have to bill me for the downtime caused by bad kitty:

We share Barbara Kingsolver. I always look forward to your pictures of Emmy.

I think Jasper Fforde and Margaret Atwood will be on my list too, once I've read a few more of their books.

I'm a little tempted to put Joyce Carol Oates on my list - I really enjoy her writing, but I've never really read any of her books. Just reviews and magazine articles and a short story or two. But Gravedigger's Daughter is definitely on my TBR list for next year!

I like the 3 book rule. I'm pretty sure my favorites all fall within that, too. I would never pick anyone that I'd only read one of their books. You can tell if you love that book, but I don't think you can tell if you love the author.

One of these days I will have to try a Babara Kingslover book. Great list of authors.

Must add Melissa to my list immediately! I haven't updated mine in probably a year!

I loved David Mitchell's Cloud Atlas and have, but have not yet read, Black Swan Green. I must move it up in my pile!

You are the second person to list Douglas Coupland. I still can't believe I don't have him listed... Generation X and Microserfs are some of my favorites. Shampoo Planet was most excellent as well.

I just bought The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver. Haven't started it yet...

Another adorable pic of Emmy!

Ooh, I do really like Melissa Walker!

Can you just make pics of your cat mandatory every week for TT? It's something I look forward to :-)

I do plan to post pics of Emmy for TT whenever I have any of interest! And since she is always doing cute things, it shouldn't be too hard to post pics most weeks.

Kingsolver, Atwood and Oates are on my list, too. It's still a "mental list" ... I need to complete my LT profile!

How old is Emmy? It's hard to tell how big she is, with all the fur!

We share many books, and also, a love of Melissa Walker. I love the way her three books sit here, side to side, a rainbowing promise.
