The Reluctant Heiress by Eva Ibbotson (coming April 20, 2009)
Being an heiress in 1920s Austria with nothing but a broken-down castle to your name and nary a penny in your purse could be frustrating for anyone but the Princess Theresa-Maria of Pfaffenstein. “Tessa,” however, is thrilled with her situation, as it allows her to concentrate on her love of the arts—and no one in the Viennese opera company need know that their delightful and charming under-wardrobe mistress is really a princess.

But when the dashing self-made millionaire Guy Farne arrives at the opera in search of suitable entertainment for his high society guests, Tessa realizes that there may be more to life—and love—than just music. But while the attraction between them in undeniable, Guy’s insufferable snob of a fiancĂ©e only solidifies Tessa’s determination to keep her true identity a secret. Yet, after a chance meeting with the handsome Englishman, Tessa’s reserve begins to melt, and she starts to wonder if it’s not too late for a fairytale ending…

Peace Love & Baby Ducks by Lauren Myracle (coming May 14, 2009)
Growing up in a world of wealth and pastel-tinted entitlement, fifteen-year-old Carly has always relied on the constancy—and authenticity—of her sister, Anna. But when fourteen-year-old Anna turns plastic-perfect-pretty over the course of a single summer, everything starts to change. And there are boys involved, complicating things as boys always do. With warmth, insight, and an unparalleled gift for finding humor even in stormy situations, beloved author Lauren Myracle dives into the tumultuous waters of sisterhood and shows that even very different sisters can learn to help each other stay afloat.

Chasing the Bear by Robert Parker (coming May 14, 2009)
For almost forty years, Robert Parker’s inimitable private investigator Spenser has been solving cases and selling millions of books worldwide. Now, for the first time, see how it all began as the Mystery Writers of America Grand Master sheds light on Spenser’s formative years spent with his father and two uncles out West.

This is an event book for every fan of Spenser, and a revelation for teens about to discover an American icon.

Prada & Prejudice by Mandy Hubbard (coming June 11, 2009)
To impress the popular girls on a high school trip to London, klutzy Callie buys real Prada heels. But trying them on, she trips…conks her head…and wakes up in the year 1815!

There Callie meets Emily, who takes her in, mistaking her for a long-lost friend. As she spends time with Emily’s family, Callie warms to them—particularly to Emily’s cousin Alex, a hottie and a duke, if a tad arrogant. But can Callie save Emily from a dire engagement, and win Alex’s heart, before her time in the past is up?

Prada and Prejudice is a high-concept romantic comedy about finding friendship and love in the past in order to have happiness in the present.

Tales of the Madman Underground by John Barnes (coming June 25, 2009)
Wednesday, September 5, 1973: The first day of Karl Shoemaker’s senior year in stifling Lightsburg, Ohio. For years, Karl’s been part of what he calls “the Madman Underground”—a group of kids forced (for no apparent reason) to attend group therapy during school hours. Karl has decided that senior year is going to be different. He is going to get out of the Madman Underground for good. He is going to act—and be—Normal.

But Normal, of course, is relative. Karl has five after-school jobs, one dead father, one seriously unhinged drunk mother . . . and a huge attitude. Welcome to a gritty, uncensored rollercoaster ride, narrated by the singular Karl Shoemaker.

Plus by Veronica Chambers (coming soon)
Beatrice Wilson's life changes overnight when she’s discovered by a scout for the oldest, most prestigious modeling agency in America—for their plus-sized division.

Now she must find the confidence to vanquish skinny rivals, fend off sleazy photographers, and banish scheming frenemies in her rise to superstardom, all while trying to get her ex-boyfriend back. But Bea learns that to win prince charming, you first have to find a way to love yourself.

He vowed to repay his generous hosts by building a school; his efforts have grown into the Central Asia Institute, which has since provided education for 25,000 children.

Retold for middle readers, the story remains inspirational and compelling.

Eon: Dragoneye Reborn by Alison Goodman (out now)

So what do you have to do to enter?

For 1 entry, tell me in the comments the approximate number of novels you read per month and how many of those are books you bought as opposed to sources like friends, the library, review books, etc. I just thought this might be interesting since a prize pack with 11+ books in it would be nearly a whole month's reading for me.

For 1 extra entry, post a link to this contest on your blog or social networking page (sidebar is fine) and leave a separate comment to tell me you've done so. No separate comment, no extra entry.

For 1 extra entry, read one of my author interviews and leave a comment at the interview post.

Deadline for entry is Sunday, April 5th at 11:59 pm CST. Open to US and Canadian residents only (sorry international readers, but those are the publisher's rules.)

(wow lots of entries)

I read anywhere from 2-10 books a month. Sometimes I take a break or get busy and don't have time, and sometimes I just read, read, read! I get most of my books from the library, or online sources. I only actually buy maybe one or two a month depending on how much money I have.

4-5 a month. About 1/3 bought, 1/3 library, 1/3 borrowed.

I probably read 8 to 10 novels a month, but it varies a lot on how long they are and what else I have going on. With YA novels or really addictive series, I've been known to read a book a day. I buy (or convince people to buy for me) almost all of them and frequently distribute them to my friends afterward.

Kristen said...

I read between 10-15 books a month depending on their length. 95% of these are books I have bought at one time or another since I tend to buy more books per month than I can actually read. ;-)

Please include me in your giveaway. Well, this year I have really been diving into reading. Lately I've been reading about 4 to 5 books a month, all of which I have bought. I'm working on the last of the Stravaganza series (highly recommended) and am looking forward to more good reading soon.

I've been looking forward to several of the books in this prize pack! I read about 10-12 books a month and most of them are from the library. Last year, I started buying books again (maybe 2 or so a month) because I want to support the authors and publishing houses with sales, too!

Since I usually only read at night, if I don't have work to do, I read about 6 to 8 books a month. Since I've won quite a few books in contests I'd say on average only 1 of those books are bought.

I read 5-6 a month depending on the length and lately I have been trying to better about getting my promised reviews done, so I guess more than half are from publishers and the rest are from the library.
Now my husband read 8-10 a month and they are all from the library and he does not do any reviews even thou he is an excellent writer and would do the authors good.
Thanks so much,

Wow. Awesome giveaway. Please enter me. Thanks!

For me, it varies widely. Depending on my schedule and the genres, I can get through anywhere from 5-20 books in a month. This year has been slow so far, with my crazy schedule. I buy nearly all of my books, but I recently got into paperbackswap.com, book giveaways, and I'm trying to find ways to get on some book reviewer lists. I simply can't afford to buy all the books I need for my reading habits, so I'm pretty desperate to try to be able to afford to keep reading. With no library access, it's really hard.

I read about 10, depending on how many in that mix are kids' books and how many are for "grown ups."

I borrow 99.9% of that. After all, I do work in the library.

I'd buy more, but I'm not longer allowed to go to bookstores by order of my family. LOL.

I read about 3-5 books a month, not as many as I used to before children :-) And nowadays I get most of them from the library or from friends because our budget is so tight. I only buy a few authors that I really like.

How much I read can vary so much. It's usually somewhere between 8-20. The lower end of the scale if work is really crazy, and then it swings the other way when I have more time.

I usually read a pretty even mix of books that I have bought, review copies and library books.

I have been reading more YA fiction lately so I am really excited about this.

I probably average about 12 novels per month. I buy about a third of my books that I have on my shelves, but I usually get them used. Most of the books that I've been reading and reviewing for the past few months though are advance copies.

What a great contest! I read about ten books a month, except when I'm out on break. I'll probably get to fifteen or so this month! I buy perhaps one or two books per month, so most of my new reads come from the public library, the school library, or my very large TBR pile at home.
Thank you!

It really depends on how much spare time I have to read during the month, AKA how much homework my teachers decide to give. Normally, though, I read probably 10-20 books each month. I'm a pretty fast reader, and I need to be reading new books because I review a book every Friday. Most of them are bought, because there's a Barnes and Noble right across the street from me. Also, everyone gives me Barnes and Noble gift certificates for my birthday and Christmas because everyone knows I love reading. Probably two or three of the books I read are from friends who said they read something and liked it, and who lend it to me. I don't really go to the library that much because there isn't one very close to me, and my parents are usually too busy to take me.

Please count me in! This sounds great!

I read about 5 books during the school year months; maybe three times that during the summer.

I hit the library (was going to say "visit", but that sounded tame somehow) at least once a week and borrow three or four books, enough to keep me going for that week. I'm also a book review blogger for Thomas Nelson and get the occasional ARC every now and then, so that's about, what, 20 books a month?

I rarely buy books, though - not enough money. Right now I'm saving up for a copy of a hardcover called Future Evolution.
