BETA was an incredibly entertaining read. Demesne is so well rendered as a place, I had the urge to book a trip there myself (though I wouldn't be allowed to go, since I can't afford the landing strip or private jet to take me there). Of course there are plenty of cracks in this perfect world - especially in their treatment of the clones (who aren't exactly as unfeeling as they are made to be). Elysia forms a friendship with the maid of the family who buys her, Xanthe (which is seriously one of my favorite names), and learns about the dangers clones face as well as about a growing rebellion.
BETA has some good twists, and even though I did see them coming, I still thought they worked well in the context of the story. The plot doesn't really kick in until about halfway through (until then, it's a lot of excellent world exploration - worthy of a Zombie Chicken Merit Badge for Worldbuilding), but from that point on, it's high octane with a killer ending that definitely has me excited for the possibilities that await in the next book!

I hadn't heard of this one before, but it sounds good. I want to know what the clones are for (surely there is an easier way to get a companion?).
